It seems like Garmin is continuing on the route to make more and more dumbed down units, the latest I read on zumoforums.com is that you can not separate music from nav prompts on audio out on bluetooth, on the Zumo 550 you could set that nav prompts to be sent to the headset and music to the general audio out, now both are sent through the a2dp profile.

Why is this bad news you may ask? Well on our Bluesonic intercom we have to set different priorities on the audiochannels, phone and nav prompts is higher than intercom, but music is below intercom, so if you speak through the intercom the music is muted, if the phone or gps speaks, the intercom is muted, on the new 660 you have both nav prompts and music (one channel from 660) on the music channel, which means that if you use the intercom you won't hear the nav prompts!

And also I'm a bit worried that our Bluesonic won't be able to connect to the new zumo 660 a2dp profile, if thats the case we can't connect our phone to the zumo and the bluesonic headset to teh zumo to see incoming calls through the new zumo, that also bad news... stupid, stupid Garmin. Mad

Hi konfucius,

You are speaking about the priority of settings in BlueSonic. F.ex. "we have to set different priorities on the audiochannels, phone and nav prompts is higher than intercom, but music is below intercom, so if you speak through the intercom the music is muted, if the phone or gps speaks, the intercom is muted"
It IS possible to change this settings/priorities of the system - but you're absolute right, it won't make any changes regarding the Zumo 660 Mad
(I just wanted to inform about possibilities for settings) Very Happy

Thanks Chilli, good to see you here Very Happy

As you say the priorities can be set with Bluesonic software, but you can not split the audio from zumo 660 to Music and Nav prompts.

And, as for now, you can not pair zumo 660 and Bluesonic Sad

I talked to an owner of Zumo 660. Besides the pairing issue with bluetooth headsets and the inability to separate music and nav, he mentioned two other drawbacks compared to Zumo 550:

1. Routing options are more restricted than on the 550. For example you cannot specify freeways (motorways) to be avoided in routing. And what about toll roads? Is this correct?

2. The Zumo 550 nav commands are "Turn left/right at XX meters" (in local language, easy to recognize). The Zumo 660 nav commands are "Turn left/right at so-and-so-street". The text to voice translation of local street names in the 660 is nearly impossible to understand. For the Zumo 550 the type of nav commands is a settable option. Is that not the case for Zumo 660?

I dont have the 660 in front if me right now, but:

1. I think you can set it to avoid motorways, I'll check when I get home.

2. It has the same nav commands as 550, so it says: "Turn left/right at XX meters"

And a new kind of avoidances, you can select streets or area's in the Zumo to be avoided:

extra / settings / navigation / avoidances / big button below = User
allows you to pick a street or a block (or entire city) to be avoided.

Another new item here is "seasonal closures"

Thank you very much for the clarification. The 660 user that I talked to is obviously mistaken on both accounts. I will let him know so that he can search for the proper settings in his unit.

more_horiz
Well well well... Long time no see Laughing
I just want to tell about my own experiences regarding BlueSonic Vs Zumo 660:

Unfortunately I don't have any good news Sad I have been driving with Zümo 660 for a while now and tried all possibillities (I think so), nothing had succeed !

I simply cannot get BlueSonic paired with the 660 - I have spoken several times to Garmin, Garmin cannot tell what the problem is, they keep telling me that the Bluetooth software is totally identical with the software in 550 ? Now I feel really stupid tongue IF the software is the same, why doesn't it work???

The solution I have ended up with, is to connect the 660 to thw Motostation via Cabel-solution, and then only pair my mobile with the helmet - in this way, it seems working fine Exclamation

Problem is that I had to do it in a way that I actually wouldn't have done it in first place. But after a while, I have learn to live with it Laughing

Firmware version 3.30 for Zumo 660 was released about a week ago. Has it made any difference as far as bluetooth pairing capability is concerned?

I have to admit that I haven't tried the new firmware yet - when I get the time, I will get back with my new experiences Razz (Thanks for info).

Well I have installed it, unfortunately no news regarding bluetooth, still does not work with Bluesonic. I have sent a mail to Schuberth support, but no answer yet.

Also I'm having new problems with the zumo, I cant import Tracks anymore...

Hmmm... Glad to know that I'm not the only one with troubles with the 660.
At least I know that I'm not a complete idiot Razz
I have problems with transfering of musicfiles?

Damn, I have regretted so much, that I have choosen the 660 Sad The "old model" 550 - were actually better (my opinion), but I liked the new design on the 660 - therefore I had exchanged it to the 660...

In future, I have to stop myself from "falling in love" Very Happy

Well I like the 660, but there there are things that needs to be fixed, even though my new problem is a bit to much, importing Tracks is one of the most important features for me and I need it! Evil or Very Mad

Just curious, Konfucius. I would normally import routes and export tracks. How do you use imported tracks?
Incidentally, I will stick to my 550 for some time still.

descriptionZumo 660 not made for motorcycles? EmptyRe: Zumo 660 not made for motorcycles?

I ride a lot of trails and roads that aren't in City Navigator, so I use topo maps (Friluftskartan Pro) to draw a track in Mapsource (since the topo map is not routable) and then I get a blue line on the Zumo to follow, so I dont get lost in the deep swedish forrests Smile

In version 3.20 (or on zumo 550) you could just send a track from Mapsource (like a route) and then import it on the zumo, in 3.30 that does not work for me, even though I have read that it works for others, I have no clue what to do about it, I have tried a master reset on the zumo, but noting seems to help, I might have to send it back to garmin for a factory reset. Crying or Very sad
